Rebecca B. Lapidus, Ph.D.

Rebecca B. Lapidus, Ph.D.Rebecca B. Lapidus, Ph.D.Rebecca B. Lapidus, Ph.D.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I focus primarily on middle-aged adults while also providing psychological treatment for clients ranging from late adolescents to late adulthood. I enjoy working with individuals and couples, employing empirically supported treatment approaches throughout my practice. I am available for new patient phone calls from Monday through Friday. However, due to a current university appointment, my scheduling for patients in my private practice is limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

I graduated with honors (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, earning my bachelor's degree in psychology. I obtained my doctoral degree from Georgia State University, where I participated in a prestigious clinical psychology program that admitted only four students in my year. My master's thesis focused on evaluating a communications training program, while my doctoral dissertation assessed the impact of an intervention on participants' sense of belonging. I completed my residency at The Ohio State University Counseling Center and my postdoctoral fellowship at The Georgia Institute of Technology Counseling Center. With a total of 11 years of rigorous training to achieve my credentials as a licensed psychologist, it’s fortunate that I truly love what I do!

Examples of My Professional Style:

No one knows you better than yourself. I aim to help remove your blocks so you can fully engage with your inner guide. This may involve:

  • Providing observations of how you present yourself (e.g., "I noticed your face seemed to relax when discussing how you could pursue option B versus option A.")
  • Assisting you in fully expressing yourself, including your emotions, which often leads to healing as you gain clarity about your feelings.
  • Offering feedback about your behavior that may reflect how others perceive you (e.g., "I felt like you were taking care of me just then, being cautious about how much you choose to challenge me or share your sadness… Is that how you are with others in your life? How do you think it affects their reactions towards you?")
  • Sharing psychological knowledge to support hypotheses that help unravel the root of your issues.
  • Teaching proven techniques you can practice independently, often helping people feel better in their lives.
