Rebecca B. Lapidus, PhD

Rebecca B. Lapidus, PhDRebecca B. Lapidus, PhDRebecca B. Lapidus, PhD

**As a licensed clinical psychologist, I primarily work with adults, adolescents, and couples. I use empirically supported approaches and am available for new patient calls Monday through Friday, though my private practice scheduling is limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and some Tuesday and Friday evenings.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University with a psychology degree and earned dual doctoral degrees from Georgia State University in a highly selective clinical and community psychology program. My master's thesis evaluated a communications training program, while my doctoral dissertation assessed an intervention's impact on participants' sense of belonging. I completed my residency at The Ohio State University Counseling Center and my postdoctoral fellowship at the Georgia Institute of Technology. With 11 years of training, I truly love what I do!

Examples of My Professional Style:

No one knows you better than yourself. I aim to help remove your blocks so you can fully engage with your inner guide. This may involve:

  • Providing observations of how you present yourself (e.g., "I noticed your face seemed to relax when discussing how you could pursue option B versus option A.")
  • Assisting you in fully expressing yourself, including your emotions, which often leads to healing as you gain clarity about your feelings.
  • Offering feedback about your behavior that may reflect how others perceive you (e.g., "I felt like you were taking care of me just then, being cautious about how much you choose to challenge me or share your sadness… Is that how you are with others in your life? How do you think it affects their reactions towards you?")
  • Sharing psychological knowledge to support hypotheses that help unravel the root of your issues.
  • Teaching proven techniques you can practice independently, often helping people feel better in their lives.
